Leah’s (Ada Nicodemou) relationship with Justin (James Stewart) has undergone several obstacles in recent months, with one of them being his painkiller addiction. This was swiftly followed by her nephew Theo (Matt Evans) arriving in the Bay and moving in with them, blocking them from enjoying the benefits of having the house to themselves.
When Justin returns from work one evening and Leah informs him that Theo has gone out to a party, Justin sweeps her into the bedroom. While in bed, the couple hears a rustle at the door and are stunned to see Marilyn (Emily Symons) jokingly unlock the door for them both.
To Justin’s chagrin, Leah gets up to make Marilyn a cup of coffee and sit with her, despite the fact that Marilyn clearly needs someone to listen to her. Justin eventually goes to bed, and the next morning he wakes up alone. He walks into the living to find Leah and Marilyn still talking on the sofa, much to his surprise.
He flees to Salt, but a little while later, he receives a frightened phone from Leah, informing him that her son, VJ (Matt Little), has been involved in an accident. Fans may recall VJ’s final scenes in early 2018 UK episodes, in which he made a hurried helicopter escape from the Bay to Cyprus with baby Luc when Irene’s (Lynne McGranger) unstable son Mick (Kristian Schmid) – the biological father of VJ’s stepdaughter – increased his claim for custody.
When Justin rushes Leah to the airport so she may fly to Cyprus and be with VJ, Marilyn is waiting to pour him a cup of tea.
She comments that it sounded like VJ will be in hospital for weeks, and Justin begins to hint at why she’s in the house? Marilyn then reveals she’s his new house guest…
